March Recap: Sweet Moments, Science, & Sensory-Friendly Fun

A busy month filled with fun!

March was a meaningful and joy-filled month for Join the Fun Foundation as we continued creating inclusive experiences for children and families in our community. From chocolate-filled adventures and hands-on sensory play to celebrating World Down Syndrome Day and enjoying Disney on Ice, this month truly captured what our mission is all about.

Sensory Saturday at Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts

This month we had the opportunity to be part of Sensory Saturday at the Whitaker Center, and it was such a special experience for our families.

Guests explored the center in a thoughtfully adapted environment featuring adjusted lighting and sound, hands-on activities, and quiet spaces for those who needed a break. One of the highlights was experiencing the Survival of the Slowest exhibit, which offered a fun and engaging way for children to learn through interactive exploration. Sensory backpacks were also available, helping families feel even more supported as they navigated the exhibits.

Our team loved meeting so many new families and exploring all of the fun the Whitaker Center has to offer!

Sensory-Friendly Night at Hershey’s Chocolate World

We had an absolute blast at Hershey’s Chocolate World Sensory-Friendly Night. From the moment families arrived, the energy was full of excitement, laughter, and chocolatey fun. Thanks to everyone who joined us, we even set a new attendance record with over 270 visitors!

Some of our favorite highlights included the Love2BeeFit cardio drums, which had kids moving and grooving throughout the night. The Chocolate Tour, Hershey’s Unwrapped, and Make Your Own Candy Bar experiences were a hit for kids and adults alike, giving everyone a behind-the-scenes look at how those delicious treats come to life.

We also loved seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces thanks to the Susquehanna Service Dogs, who were there to provide comfort and connection throughout the night.

Most importantly, we had the chance to connect with so many wonderful families and organizations. We were thrilled by the amazing turnout of applicants for our Fun Fund grants. It was a joy to meet each of them and watch as they explored, played, and created meaningful memories together.

World Down Syndrome Day with 3.21 For Life PA

We had an amazing time celebrating World Down Syndrome Day at Tröegs with 3.21 for Life PA! The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and community spirit as we met the Harrisburg Senators’ Rascall, spent time with some cuddly cows, visited the Sensory Room, jammed out on the Cardio Drums with Love2BeeFit, listened to live music, explored vendor booths, and cheered on raffle winners. We loved celebrating all of the VIPs and connecting with the community. It was truly a day to remember!

Disney on Ice: Frozen and Encanto

We had a magical time at Disney on Ice: Frozen and Encanto at the Giant Center! Seven families were able to enjoy opening night together. From the dazzling performances to the unforgettable moments on the ice, the night was full of smiles, wonder, and family fun. We loved sharing this experience and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Special thanks to Disney on Ice and Feld Entertainment for helping make this event possible!

A Heartfelt “Thank You!”

As we reflect on the last few months, we are filled with gratitude. Events like these are exactly why Join the Fun Foundation exists. They open doors to new experiences, remove barriers, and create spaces where every child and family can feel included, supported, and celebrated.
